Becoming Human

Belonging is the place where we can find a certain emotional security. It is the place where we learn a lot about ourselves, our fears, our blockages, and our violence, as well as our capacity to give life; it is the place where we grow to appreciate others, to live with them, to share and work together, discovering each other’s gifts and weaknesses.

Facing Fears and Finding Balance in the Depths

Through different meditations, I have created this place in my mind that consists of canyons, beaches, lakes, forests and mountains, it has become my refuge. During one specific workshop, “Finding balance in the depths”, Matti started us off with a beautiful guided meditation. He guided us to imagine ourselves sinking to the bottom of the ocean floor, the lower we got the darker and colder it became, but just allowing ourselves to sink to the bottom. On my way down, suddenly in my mind a shark came and attacked me. My instant response was “HELL NO, not going there”.

Perfectionism is No Longer My Badge of Honor

Perfectionism is a sneaky b*tch. It whispers that if we just try harder, work longer, and never slip up, we'll finally be enough. For who? Usually ourselves, because we are way harder on ourselves than we are on anyone else. I’ve done this for most of my life. Set impossible standards that have kept me stuck in a cycle of self-doubt, procrastination, and burnout.

Meeting Myself

Being on holidays is such a beautiful thing.  It’s an invitation to unplug, unwind, and relax. For some, that’s an easy task, for others that’s a daunting endeavor, because it requires a choice. Do you fill that time with things (friends, events, reading, social media) which in and of themselves isn’t bad and can be beautiful experiences, but it can be easy to fill your entire holidays with things. Or do you take that time to really stop, unplug, and intentionally dive in and meet with yourself?

Hope Whispers

Hope whispers in the kindness of friends. It whispers in those who stand by you and hold your hand as you take the first steps towards recovery. It whispers in those moments of simple joy and those moments where you cannot help but smile and laugh.

Finding Your Compass

For years, I followed a script—a checklist of everything I was supposed to do to be happy and successful. I did all the "right" things, chasing milestones that promised fulfillment. But with every box I checked, I felt more lost. Instead of feeling happy (or even just accomplished and satisfied) I was left wondering: When is this going to feel good?

So, I started over.

Whispers of the Water

We, as Humans, Exist to Move People

You are a person in need, and so are all the ones around you. It's okay to say it. It's okay to ask. It's okay to be honest about it. You are a person, which means you feel things, and you lose things, and it happens to all of us. You are not a robot, not a machine, not simply a student, or an employee, or an athlete, or a performer. You are not only what you're good at, and you're not only what you're bad at. You are a person, and people need other people.

You are a person, and you deserve whatever help you need.
You are a person, and you deserve to be known and loved by others.
You are a person—and people need other people.

Understanding Neurodivergence and Neurodiversity: A Key to Connection

If you spend time in the Kula community, you’ve probably heard the terms neurodivergence and neurodiversity. These words are popping up more and more in conversations about work, education, relationships, and mental health—but what do they actually mean? And why do they matter so much to the way we connect with each other?

Embrace the Journey

As I watch the vibrant colors dance across the night sky, my thoughts drift to wonder. I think about hope. Yet last night, I witnessed everything pause. Thousands gathered, hearts filled with the desire to catch that mesmerizing glimpse, and then, they did. The grand finale unfolded in an awe-inspiring cascade of colors, thunderous shapes swirling and painting the heavens. And in that moment of wonder, it struck me—we were all there by choice, by chance. We were united in our awe, with no one directing our reactions or telling us how to respond. As the final burst illuminated the skies, we all clapped and cheered together, and in that unity, we became one.

We need community now more than ever

In a world that seems more digitally connected than ever, the reality is that many people feel lonelier than ever before. Research shows that loneliness has reached alarming levels—a 2023 study by Gallup found that 44% of adults in the U.S. report feeling lonely frequently or sometimes. For neurodivergent adults, this experience can be even more pronounced. The unique challenges of navigating social norms, sensory overwhelm, and the fear of being misunderstood or judged often deepen the sense of isolation.

What is Kula?

That’s the heart of Kula. It’s a space where you don’t have to explain yourself, where people just get it. It’s about showing up as you are—whether you’re feeling on top of the world or like the world’s on top of you—and knowing that you’re not alone. For so many of us, especially those who are neurodivergent, finding that kind of understanding and connection can feel like searching for a needle in a haystack.
